A chance to chat with Liam Neeson

Irish-born actor Liam Neeson started performing in plays at school when he was only 11 years old, but really decided to pursue acting full time when he was 24. In between, he had stints as a truck driver and even as a forklift operator at Guinness. If he could have looked into a crystal ball back then, we doubt he would have thought he would end up an Academy Award-nominated actor for his role in Schindler’s List, but he did.

Today’s remarkable listing is a chance to meet this remarkable man and ask him about his life: Meet Liam Neeson, star of THE GREY in New York City on January 17

Who wouldn’t want to meet the man who played Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: The Clone Wars?

From the auction description:

Bid on two VIP seats to watch Liam Neeson’s live, in-depth interview with the New York Times. Afterward, you’ll meet Liam for your own conversation!

* Experience includes two seats at the 7:00pm taping of “TimesTalk” at the TimesCenter in New York City
* Scheduled for January 17th.

The film, The Grey, looks to be a thrilling movie. Although it is scheduled for release on January 27, there has been a lot of buzz around the movie, and Liam’s role. Specifically, Liam’s character, described as “an unlikely hero who is forced to lead a group of roughneck guys in their fight to survive and return home when their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. Battling injuries and merciless weather, the men must escape the icy elements — and a vicious pack of rogue wolves on the hunt — before their time runs out.”

If you plan to bid on this auction, now’s the time to jot down your questions for Liam, should your nerves get the better of you when you meet to converse. It’s doubtful that you’ll get him to open up about the tragic death of his wife, Natasha Richardson, the way he did in an interview last year in Esquire. Nor does he like to go deeply into discussing the political unrest in his native Northern Ireland, for fear of complicated daily life for his family that is still there. So what does leave you? Star Wars and then…?

Wine. Neeson enjoys pinot noir, and is certain to have recommendations for favorite vintages. Parenting—he is the father of two boys. Football, the European version. Neeson closely follows Liverpool F. C. and counts himself as a fan.

Finally, you could steer things around to discussing his work beyond Star Wars. He was working in theater before director John Boorman discovered him and cast him in the 1981 film Excalibur. He has since had major roles and notable performances in films such as Leap of Faith, Husbands and Wives, Nell, Rob Roy, and Michael Collins.

It’s your opportunity to get up close and personal with the actor Empire Magazine named as the 74th sexiest man in film history (albeit in 1995, but Neeson appears to have aged well).

One final note: During an interview with Askmen.com, Liam was asked if he could sum up his career in a couple of words, what would they be? His answer, surprisingly humble, was “Very. Lucky.”
